LIF - Norse Presents: The Spa Exchange -13th May

EAT. DRINK. DO. Join recently-relocated Harrogate restaurant Norse for an evening of scandi-inspired fine dining and culture at Leeds Corn Exchange. They’ve brought the whole gang, with tastings from The Champagne Concept, fellow independent businesses selling Scandinavian clothing and goods and even talks from American-Norwegian Signe Johansen, author of the bestselling book ‘How to Hygge’.

Champagne Trio - enjoy a trio of boutique champagnes poured and explained by Harrogate's 'The Champagne Concept. An ideal aperitif before eating with Norse or to be enjoyed on their own at the bar.

Gin Flight - enjoy a flight of three Whittaker's Gins and experience the range of flavours from Harrogate's own micro distillery.

Baltzersen's Presents: A Fika with Signe - Join award winning Norweigan-American author Signe Johansan for a discussion on the Scandinavian lifestyle, and in particular 'Hygge', the subject of her latest book. Includes A freshly baked cinnamon bun.

A £10 deposit per person secures your reservation and will be deducted from your bill.

Booking times confirmed via info@norserestaurant.co.uk - email us your preferred times, or we'll call you once we have your info.

20% off lunch for Passport Holders.

Norse will pop-up for LIF17 and offer dinner from 5pm on Friday 12th May and then an all day lunch and dinner service from Noon - 9pm (last table) before the event ends at 11.30pm.

We'll be offering dishes from the menu we will be serving at our new restaurant located on Swan Road in Harrogate following our successful Kickstarter campaign and move at the end of this month.

A big improvement in the new place will be our increased wine list including lots of options by the glass. This is because we have a new wine preservation system and we're going to bring it with so we can offer around 25 wines during the event and every one by the glass so you can really try some different things.

We'll have beer from Bad Co. and some of our snaps on hand too.

If anyone is celebrating during the event and would like to have a glass fronted side-room to themselves get in touch with us direct because there are some really great little spaces that we could offer as a private dining area. A most memorable way to celebrate a birthday or anniversary during the festival.

We are taking bookings for Norse and asking for a £10 deposit per guest. Once you've booked your tickets you can email us your preferred time to dine or we'll get in touch to arrange if you don't.

You will also be able to just walk-in to the restaurant (availability permitting).

We will be able to offer options for pescetarians, vegetarians and coeliacs without notice, if you have other dietary requirements get in touch and we'll endeavour to prepare a special menu for you.

Here is the draft menu:

Norwegian/American Signe Johansen is an award winning food writer and food anthropologist based in London. she is a regular contributor to magazines and newspapers looking for Scandinavian receipes.

Her most recent book 'How to Hygge' discussed what became 2016's 'go-to' lifestyle term. but relates to it's constant presence as a theme in her life.

Sig will be giving a couple of special LIF17 small group talks and signing copies of her latest book.

'How to Hygge' will be available on the day from The Little Ripon Bookshop, who will also bring a selection of Scandinavian lifestyle and Nordic noir titles.

Tickets for 'A Fika with Signe' are priced at £8 (+ booking fee) and include a North Star filter coffee and cinnamon bun from Baltzersen's.

Our neighbours in Harrogate are setting up a Champagne bar where you'll be able to taste their fantastic range of growers champagnes by the glass and then purchase a bottle to take home.

If you want the best experience that The Champagne Concept offer we'd recommend purchasing a ticket to enjoy their champagne trio. It's very rare that you try three champagnes side-by-side and it's only once you do that you begin to realise how versatile it can be.

Tickets for the Champagne Trio are priced at £15 (+ booking fee) and it can be tried on it's own or in conjunction with a dinner reservation (you'll just arrive 30mins prior to your table booking).

If gin is your thing then we've also got Toby and Jane Whittaker coming along with their new range of gins - including a modern gin with cardamom and hibiscus, a Navy Strength Gin and a clear Sloe Gin (Toby will explain)!

They will also be offering a bar service, along side retail and also a Gin flight. You'll try your choice of 3 of their gins, each garnished separately and with tonic available.

Whittaker's is distilled on Toby and Jane's farm in Dacre Banks and is the leading gin made in the Harrogate District.

Tickets for the Gin Flight are priced at £15 (+ booking fee) and it can be tried on it's own or in conjunction with a dinner reservation (you'll need to arrive 30mins prior to your table booking).

Sally Hindle already owns a Bias store in Peckham, London. When choosing the location for her next outlet she chose Harrogate.

Bias stock a range of ladies and gents clothes and accessories including leading Scandinavian brands like Ganni and Becksöndergaard.

They will be in attendance with a selection of garments and styles that represent their collection.

We're talking with a few other possible contributors that we feel will add value to the day for you our guests. If there is someone we've forgotten that you think would fit amongst our current line-up then do get in touch and let us know who you would recommend on info@norserestaurant.co.uk.

If you have never visited the Corn Exchange you are in for a real treat.

The building itself is stunning and the space internally offers so much space as well as a really good bunch of independent retailers.
